Summer Formal Wear: The Do’s and Dont’s.

Summer is coming up and that means beach trips and ice cream! But it also means those dreaded summer weddings and formal events where you have to get all dressed up, only to have all your makeup melt off and you being all sweaty. It gets very difficult for people who prefer to dress modestly to dress up and keep their cool when the temperatures are high. It is a total no-no to wear a cardigan over a sleeveless gown to a formal event in the summer because one, it totally ruins the look of the outfit, and two, the layering will make the summer heat unbearable. It is important to choose breathable fabric in cool colors and breezy cuts to feel comfortable in the summer without compromising style or modesty. The perfect option is a kaftan because it doesn’t stick to your body and keeps you comfortable. Kaftans aren’t restricted to one specific culture anymore, and have become modest alternatives to evening wear around the world. So it doesn’t matter if you are attending an Egyptian or a Pakistani wedding, or a black-tie event, a kaftan can be just as glamorous as any traditional or Western formal wear.
Your summer makeup also should be minimal and soft. Look for BB creams that are a moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation and skin care all in one. They don’t look heavy or caked on, and let your skin breathe. Apply with Beauty Blender for a dewy, flawless finish. A gold highlighter also makes your skin glow and makes it look hydrated. Try mixing it with your BB cream for an overall glow. Play up your lips with baby pinks or nude colors. You can apply a light wash of champagne or gold color eye shadow, and finish off with a thin eyeliner and loads of mascara.
Pair your kaftan with some statement accessories, like a bedazzled clutch or vintage-inspired earrings for maximum impact and a fuss-free look.
Here are some outfit ideas for summer events. Don’t forget to pin your favorite looks!
